WIP. Mostly finished but I still need to add more stuff. Sketchup7+Photoshop.

:::: DESCRIPTION ::::

UNIT NAME: SORA-209 "Invoker"
ROLE: Sub-Sentient/Special Task Utilities
STATUS: Active Service
MANUFACTURER: Joint project between ARCA-Systems & Exo-Propulsions Laboratories

HEIGHT: 95 ft (29 meters)

This towering and ugly beast is mainly used for repairing, construction and maintaining installations. It is a self-operating unit with "sub-sentient" intelligence. Several Invokers maintaining large underground installations are not uncommon.

Though not usually used for direct combat, it is capable of limited defensive/assault actions. If provoked, it may pick up a manipulator-based weapon and defend itself. The "Invoker" can also invoke & interface with "Ronin" capable units. The Invoker will then essentially operate and become the unit's pilot.

This unit is equipped with a fully functional cockpit for full-manual control. Occasionally, elite pilots may use Invokers on certain assault missions.

Hahha, every panel of this guy screams "I AM A GRUNT AND DIE IN DROVES (but I will draw a loyal following from a certain vocal subset of the fanbase)"

While machine is not meant for battle itself, I was thinking that it will always be surrounded by various other machines it can invoke that ARE capable of defense/assault.....hence it's name. :)

Whoops, I accidentally hit the Print button instead of the Download link! But anyway, this is really well done so far! You've nailed the transformation method, and the lineart+texturing is tight. This is pretty close to what I'd see as a professional in-game concept model, at the least.

That is suberbly cool, both in design and feasability. What you mentioned about special forces using modified Evokers for certain missions, got me thinking - I'd really like to see these Evoker-Custom's units. Would it be a severe re-design of the basic model, or would it consist of interchangeable "packs", which attach to pre-existing hardpoints on the Evoker's frame?

Again, I love the design brother. Form and functionality, hand in hand. Here's hoping you've plans for a SF combat-model :)

Hmmm...Custom Invokers....well maybe it will have additional armor or something and maybe something to give it more speed. Thanks Bountydog. ;)

No worries brother, all glad to help with the ol' creative juices. :)

From personal experience of working alongside SEALS, I've learned that most SF like to work light, with an emphasis on noise reduction and speed. Most of the weapons they favored combined high penetrative power, with minimal clatter and weight. Maybe a loadout of compression-rifles w/ammo-catches, a solid carbon-tungsten melee back-up weapon, and some form of lightweight jamming-equipment would be in order? Then again, the loadout would vary from op to op, wouldn't it?

I'm sorry. I'm an old jacket-jockey, and your designs got my mech-juices flowing again. Please forgive me if I'm bothering you.

Not at all. It's always good to get some input that stirs the imagination. :) What did you do alongside the SEALS? :O

I was a submariner stationed in Bangor, WA. Aside from drinking and being buddy-like with some of them, I also participated in underwater-delivery evolutions with some of the teams, as well as other things that are yet to be unclassified.

That, and one time they let me and some other guys toss the log :)

Interesting, you must have some good tales to tell. Do you ever call yourself "a man of the sea"? :D

And what does it mean to "toss the log"? It doesn't sound pleasant lol.

Haha, I prefer the term salty, over man of the sea. I tell most people that I'm saltier than a pickled-dick :)

Tossing the log is completely literal. They chop down and sand a tree, then work out in teams with it. Lifting, tossing, hoisting, carrying - you name it. It was me and five other bubbleheads(submariners) down on the beachhead with these SEALS, working out with this fucking HUGE log. Anyway, the end of the workout is a toss, where they and us throw it back and forth to eachother, and whoever's side drops the thing first, buys drinks for the other side that night. Calling the losers your seabitch is also acceptable.

Ahhhhh, memories ~

Cool, but where does the cannon barrel go in its humanoid form?
Reply
:icongrid-gunner:
grid-gunner Featured By Owner Aug 27, 2009
It is 2 separate units. So the barrel is only on the other unit.

aww I guess you don't have any other 3d software to export it to?
I guess you could rotate every 10 degrees and render a image.
then open photoshop (use theanimated gif/animation function) and export it to a mov??
